LUSH Rub Rub Rub Takes Care of Itchies!

LUSH is one of my most favoritist brands in all of the universe.  One of the wonderful things about their products, aside from the fact that they are freshly made by hand with organic products and safe synthetics, is that they are often able to be used for multiple purposes.  I discovered one myself just the other night!

In my day job, where I can't functionally wear much of my pretty things (harumph), I am outdoors and tromping through "questionable areas".  A recent adventure on Saturday left me with huge, red, HORRIBLY ITCHY welts on my ankles and legs.  I was scratching them raw and I was miserable.

While standing in the shower trying to figure out how the heck I was going to stop the itching and swelling that the aloe and previous shower weren't helping, I looked up into my shower caddy and saw my pot of LUSH Rub Rub Rub.

Ingredients:  Fine sea salt, Water, Fresh Organic Lemon Juice, Jasmine Flower Infusion, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Cocoaamphoatecetate, Mimosa Absolute, Orange Blossom Absolute, Jasmine Absolute, Lemon Oil, Lactic Acid, Lauryl Betaine, Limonene, Perfume, FD&C Blue No.1, D&C Red 28.

I didn't take my own photo for this one (the above is from the LUSH site) because mine is already half used.  If you want to see what it looks like (for real) in the pot, just ask in the comments!

Anyhow, with all the lemon and salt I was hoping that the cleansing and antiseptic properties of the two would help flush out whatever was in my poor little skin.    After mixing up the pot to loosen the salt I grabbed a handful and scrubbed the heck out of all the itchy spots, rinsed (that one gave a little sting but it went away right away), and after I got out of the shower...  ITCHIES WERE GONE!  My skin was super dry in the areas where I had scrubbed (since I used so much more than I would if I were simply showering to become clean), but an application of some LUSH Dream Cream lotion took care of the dryness as well as any redness.

In my book this is now a shower scrub, a shampoo, and a sting/welt/irritation/allergy/itchy-thing blaster.  As a note, when you buy this product it does not look at all like the picture up there.  The salt all settles down to the bottom in a big hard clump and shaking it like a polaroid picture doesn't quite do the trick.  Just grab a chopstick or a spoon and stir it around to make sure you get salt in your handful and not just the liquid.  Rub Rub Rub smells AMAZING and clean without at all being overwhelming.

Available online or at your local LUSH retailer, $19.95 for 11.8oz.
